Learner Permit (LP)

Must be 15 1/2 years or older
-
Written test of 20 questions and 75% passing

Must hold LP for 6 months OR for 30 days if you
are over 18 years old

If LP driver is at fault in an accident or receives
a ticket, the 6 months will start over at the date the ticket is paid
-
Licensed driver 21 years old or over must be in the front seat (restriction "9" on LP)

Cannot use cell phones or any electronic hand-held devices
-
$25.50 license fee ($4 per each test failure payable to tag agency)

Intermediate Driver License (IDL)

Driving test only - no written test
-
Must hold IDL for 6 months or until 18 years old

Must have had at least 50 hours (10 hours
at night) of behind-the-wheel training from
licensed driver at least 21 years old and
licensed for at least 2 years

Only 1 passenger or only people who live in
driver's home or any passenger if accompanied
by licensed driver at least 21 years old in car
- Solo drive only between 5 AM - 10 PM
Exceptions: School, church, or work OR
if licensed driver 21 years or over in front seat

Cannot use cell phones or any electronic hand-held devices

A violation of any of the above forces you to keep the IDL until 18 years of age

$10.00 license fee ($4 per each test failure)

Driver License (DL)
- No restrictions on drive times or passengers
- Student must go to tag agency to change IDL to
DL once student meets 6 month restriction. If you wait after the 6 months and get a ticket
or accident you will have to keep IDL until 18 years of age
- $10.00 license fee
