Frequently Asked Questions
1. Which class should I take?
The BASIC RIDER COURSE (BRC) is geared toward the beginning rider OR the
rider who may have laid off riding for a few years. This is the class to take if you
want to find out if motorcycle riding is for you or if you wish to polish up on some
old skills. A more detailed description can be found by going to the motorcycle
information page. This class will waive the state required riding test for the "M"
endorsement. This means you are exempt from the actual riding portion of the
state exam.
The BASIC RIDER COURSE 2 (BRC 2) is geared toward the experienced rider who
has been riding for at least six months on a regular basis. YOU CAN RIDE YOUR
OWN BIKE or rent one of our bikes. Exercises are similar to the BRC exercises. A
more detailed description can be found by going to the motorcycle information
page. This class will waive the state required riding test for the "M" endorsement.
The ADVANCED RIDER COURSE (ARC) is geared toward the person who wants
to ride their bike on a higher level in a controlled environment. Brown's is currently
the only motorcycle training site in the state of Oklahoma offering this new
Motorcycle Safety Foundation course. You must be an experienced rider for at
least six months and be current. A more detailed description can be found by going
to the motorcycle information page.
PRIVATE LESSONS are available. They consist of one on one instruction with one
of our MSF certified and licensed instructors. These lessons can be taken on the
range. A more detailed description can be found by going to the motorcycle
information page.
2. Do I need my own motorcycle?
Motorcycles are provided for the BRC class. We use 2009-2010 Kawasaki
Eliminator 125's and a Suzuki GZ 250. These are cruiser style motorcycles.
Unless you are well over 6 feet tall, you will be fine. The bikes are lightweight
and in very good condition. Pictures are encouraged...bring your camera.
Motorcycles are available to rent for the BRC 2 and the ARC classes. It is HIGHLY
RECOMMENDED that you ride your own bike for the BRC 2 and ARC classes.
3. What else do I need to bring to class?
All students must wear a helmet, full-fingered gloves, over the ankle boots, eye
protection, long pants and a long-sleeved shirt. Brown's can provide the helmet
and gloves, if needed. If you have your own helmet, gloves and jacket please wear
them. All classes except the ARC will be conducted if it rains. A rain suit would be
good. A folding chair would be useful during breaks. Water jugs are allowed and
encouraged.
4. How long do the classes last?
BRC is 5 hours of classroom and 10 hours of range time for 2 days.
BRC 2 is 8 hours of combined classroom and range time.
ARC is 8 hours of combined classroom and range time.
Private lessons are 4 hours.
5. What if I don't pass the class?
If, for whatever reason, you do not finish your course, you may return within 1 year
for a reduced rate. ALL DECISIONS BY THE LEAD RIDER COACH ARE FINAL. We
will work with you to promote your successful completion of the course. You must
understand that safety for all is our #1 priority.
